Bestla is a small irregular moon orbiting around Saturn. It has a retrograde orbit and was probably a captured object. It is named after a giantess and mother of Odin, the supreme God in norse mythology.
The vase was coiled by hand and fired up to 1240C. Bestla is made with a red clay and covered with porcelain slip to create a bark effect. It is glazed inside and left partially unglazed outside.
The vase is functional and measures 12 cm in height and around 9,5 cm in diameter at its middle (largest) point.
All the glazes are formulated and made by me.
Certificate of authenticity will be provided.
This vase is part of the 274 Moons / 274 Vases projects. I am building a vase for each of the 274 moons orbiting Saturn.
